Notes

The Worktop installer is now based upon Windows Installer technology (MSI). This new installer differs with the previous installer in the following aspects
1. The option to choose the Worktop language is only presented when chosing custom installation. By default all languages are installed.
2. Readme file not automatically shown after installation.
Using Worktop central deployed requires that the client pc's have write access to the registry: (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->Baan.Configuration, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->Baan.Configuration1 and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->CLSID->...)
A common Windows problem is that when Baan sessions are launched from within Worktop, they appear in back of the Worktop application. This problem is not restricted to Worktop but many applications will show this behavior. The reason is that Windows by default does not allow applications to "steal the focus". To solve this, download the TweakUI application from the Microsoft site. Extract the executable. After extraction, go to that folder and find the "tweakui.inf" file. Right click on this file and select the "Install" option from the context menu. After installation, double click the "Tweak UI" icon located in the Control Panel and go to the tab called "General". There is a checkbox with the label "Prevent applications from stealing focus". Uncheck this box.
As an alternative, you can edit the systems registry manually: Open regedit (win2k\xp) or regedt32 (win98), locate the "ForegroundLockTimeout" key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and set its value to 0.
Items within the Work Tree should be double clicked for activation, shortcut items should be single clicked.
Worktop does not allow to create multiple bshells using the same BWC file. The second time a BWC file is used, the active connection is re-used. So for example it is not possible to connect twice using different Baan users but using the same BWC file.
Sessions modeled in the Baan Process Browser can only be launched if the current company is using the same Central Modeling Company as the company defined in the Worktop document. During creation of the Worktop document this company is defined. If the end-user changes his current company to a company that uses a different Central Modeling Company, he will not be allowed to run sessions from within the Baan Process Browser.
Worktop 2.2.17 and later versions support multibyte languages

Known Bugs/Issues

When a login is canceled or connection fails, it may take some time before the Worktop continues.
Icons in Business Processes printed from within Worktop may become black. Note that you can always copy the Business Process to the clipboard with the 'Copy' option in the menu 'Edit' and paste it within the required application. Printing from this application will work correctly.
Pane sizes are stored within the Worktop document. Since the panes to do not have a minimum size you are able to reduce its size to 0, making the pane invisible.
The Worktop document flickers a lot when the document or Worktop itself is resized.
The shortcuts cannot be reached using the keyboard.
You cannot run menu's from within the Run Program toolbar or dialog of Worktop.
Changed business processes are not displayed in bold in the Properties pane.
The URL displayed in the address bar of the information pane disappears when resizing the Worktop.

Bugfix overview

This section contains an overview of all bugs that have been fixed in Worktop after the GA release. It provides information in which version what bug has been solved and what defects, cases and solutions are related to the bugfix. For all defects solution 13964 is relevant since it can be used to upgrade to the latest Worktop version available. Therefore 13964 is never mentioned but always applicable.

The latest version of ttdllreadmenu and tgintworktop are available through solution 125180. The current version numbers of these libraries can be read from the File->Properties dialog in Worktop.

Troubleshooting

Whenever Worktop does not start or continue anymore you can try the following things in order to solve the problem. Check after each action whether the problem is already solved, if not continue with the following step.

Kill any Worktop.exe and process first with the Task Manager before starting Worktop.
Kill any bw.exe process with the Task Manager.
Reinstall Worktop by first deinstalling and then installing it.

When worktop cannot establish a connection to the Baan backend

Start BECS, open the applicable BWC file and save it again.
Start Worktop and open the applicable BWC file.
