MaintReger: # 13703 (BDUX7135): No valid license for tmboaserver when environment variable BAANHOME is set in bse_vars.

Date: Wed, 3 Apr 2002 13:31:23 +0200
Created on: MaintCorelli
Type: bugfix

Problem Description (Customer terms) When the tmboaserver is started no valid license is given, but the BCLM server is running. Workaround 1. When starting using BW the environment variable BAANHOME can be set in the BW-configuration -- -set BAANHOME=<BCLM home-directory> 2. Install BCLM in the standard '/usr/baan/shared' directory. If the environment variable is not set the system will always take this default directory to look for the BCLM environment. 3. Create a Bshell-script which first sets the BAANHOME environment variable and after that starts the Bshell. The script can be started by referring to it in the ipc_info file and changing the Bshell name in the BW configuration. Test Procedure Be sure BCLM is installed and running. Don't install BCLM in the standard directory (/usr/baan/shared or \program files\baan) because then no env.var. BAANHOME is necessary. Create the following entry in the bse_vars file: BAANHOME=<BCLM directory>. The BAANHOME env.var. should not be set in any other way, but should be read from the bse_vars file by the bshell. Run BAANIV en start the session tmboaserver. Now the message should come 'no valid license'. Validating a user might fail (verify.user.password) because the baan login daemon (a.k.a. rexecd.exe) could not be contacted. The problem will only occurr when multiple BSEs are on a NT system. Type: bugfix

Problem Description (Customer terms) Running session "convert to runtime data dictionary" (ttadv5215m000) or "create runtime data dictionary" (ttadv5210m000). When during the process the database gets full (error 523), the process goes on without an error on the screen, and a lot of records are lost. Afterwards the temporary dump of the table is removed, and the process completes "successfully" Workaround change the size of the database. Test Procedure Testing this is very hard. the situation where the error is occurring is if the database is full at the moment the record number being handled is a modules from an internal counter value, and that record is the one giving the error 523. Internally the update actions are kept in a buffer. if the number of records in the buffer is the same as a predefined number ( in this situation 100 ) the records will be flushed to database ( not yet committed ) if during this action the error 523 is returned it is not handled correctly. if the error is coming during the commit action, also done after every x number of records, there is a error returned and bdbreconfig will stop. Problem Description (Customer terms) a) See also VHUX2666 for a similar problem. Undefined behavior and erros due to data corruption The problem only occurs with array fetching enabled and on queries with "array size" or "buffer size" (rds_full) hint. When the array size is bigger than 500 similar problems as reported in VHUX2666 might occur: At a customer site error ORA-972 occured because of the following SQL statement: SQL> SELECT . . . Application code checks indicate that array size hints of 1000 are passed in some queries. b) the "array size" hint is only effective when the array interface is explicitely enabled. Queries with a "array size" hint should always use array interfacing unless it is explicitely disabled in the hints. Workaround a) Disable array fetching. This means that the 0100000 flag should not be set in the ora_init resource. b) Enable array fetching. This means that the 0100000 flag should be set. Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 09:07:46 +0100
Created on: MaintReger
Type: bugfix

Problem Description (Customer terms) The bwc.dll is registered on a client one time and never updated. This causes some maintenance issues as the customer currently has four different Central Deployment environments running on two code servers. These different shares are used to test and roll BW to production, so there may be different versions of (Corelli) BW in place on each share. The current bwc.dll registration scheme will not support this type of configuration. Since the bwc.dll registration information essentially becomes "hardcoded" on a client, it binds the client to one version/path for bwc.dll loading until the registry is altered manually. In addition, if a Central Deployment share goes offline, all clients bound to that share by their registration of bwc.dll will fail until their registries are manually altered. The bwc.dll needs to be changed to reregister itself everytime that BW is loaded. Workaround Clear registry by hand. Test Procedure See above. Problem Description (Customer terms) In the bshell is functionality, which decides when an user has a DEM Browser as startup menu, that the session authorizations are controlled by DEM and also the startup of those sessions. This is realized by the way how the sessions are started from the Dynamic Menu Browser. However when a DEM Browser user uses the Command line option to start a session, the bshell doesn't check if that user should use a DEM Browser. This would lead to a gap in our DEM authorization mechanism. When an end-user has as startup menu a DEM Browser, that user should not be able to startup a session using this Command line option. Test Procedure start baan with DEM Browser as startup menu. also give a session in the command line. in the new situation the DEM menu should be started, and that will then try to start the mentioned session ( when the latest version of this menu browser is started ) on older versions only the DEM Menu will be started Affected Executables bshell6.2 Scopus defectnumber(s) Scopus casenumber(s) Priority (e.g. 10) 119820 xxx 20
