Mail Settings

If you run a OnePoint Diagnostics Service scan and want to have the output processed by the Business Intelligence Center, you need to have your mail settings configured properly.

You can configure mail settings as follows:

The meaning of each field is described as follows:

SMTP Server

This needs to be the name of a (local) server that has the SMTP service running. This can be the same or another server on which the OnePoint Diagnostics server components are running. Ask a local expert for a correct SMTP server name.

From

Specify your mail address (i.e. the sender's mail address) to be used during further communication concerning the output that is going to be sent.

Subject

Fill in a subject of your choice.

Port

This is the standard SMTP port number (i.e. 25).  It can be set to another value, but it is rather unlikely to be necessary.

To

The mail address to which scan output must be sent. Normally the address is se.scans@infor.com (see Business Intelligence Center). But if you agreed to send scan output to a support engineer, fill in his/her e-mail address. You may even enter your own address, and then forward the scan output to se.scans@infor.com manually.

Mode

The mode has relevance to situations where scan output has been generated, namely when a OnePoint Diagnostics Service scan is ready executing, and the progress window or the Plan Status Wizard is open. The mode will determine which options are available to the user ("Download" and/or "Mail"), and how the options will behave. The dropdown list allows the choice between:

When mailing is applicable, the mail button will be enabled. Pressing the mail button will start the send mail procedure provided all parameter values are setup correctly.

When output is generated only the download option becomes available even in cases where output could have been mailed.  The mail button is simply not enabled.  When output is downloaded, the output still can be mailed manually, i.e. using your personal e-mail client software.

This is the recommended option. When mailing is applicable, the mail button will be enabled. Pressing the mail button will start the mail settings wizard which allows you the adjust the mail settings for this specific event.

Optional body text

Optionally some additional message could be included here.  Since processing of the output is an automated job, chances are high the message text is not read.  When you keep a copy of the mail message, it can be used by you to track which type of data was sent.
