Minimal browser setting requirements for Internet Explorer
This page summarizes all browser setting prerequisites for Internet Explorer,
in relation to Java Virtual Machine, Cookies,
Local Intranet security settings
(general) and local Intranet
security settings for the client install (InstallShield).
General prerequisites
Java Virtual Machine
Refer to the supported environments information to review the currently
supported Java Virtual Machine (JVM) version(s). You may need to download and
install a specific version.
In some cases, if you have more than one version installed, you may need to
deactivate one of the two.
To review/change these settings:
Internet Explorer 5.x, 6.x:
- From the Internet Explorer "Tools" Menu, click
"Internet Options"
- Click the "Advanced" tab
- Review your Settings. Common JVMs are from Sun and Microsoft. Refer to
the supported environments information to know which to select and which
to unselect. You may need to install a specific version
Other browser versions:
- Refer to the browser's help index
Cookies
You need to enable the option to allow cookies that are stored on your
computer.
To review/change these settings:
- From the browsers' Tools menu, click Internet Options. Depending on
the browser version, cookie settings are maintained from the
"Privacy" tab or the "Security" tab

Local intranet security
settings:
The required Internet Explorer security settings (for Local Intranet) are:
- Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Enable
- Microsoft VM, Java permissions: High safety, Medium Safety or Low Safety
- Active Scripting: Enable
- Scripting of Java applets: Enable
Small behaviour differences are seen depending on platform/browser,
experiment with the settings in case you are not able to pass the system check.
To review/change these settings:
Internet Explorer 5.x, 6.x:
- From the Internet Explorer "Tools" Menu, click
"Internet Options"
- Click the "Security" tab, then "Local Intranet",
followed by the "Custom Level" button
- Check your current settings for items mentioned in the list
above and if necessary make the required changes

To perform a successful client installation by means of the InstallShield
wizard, the required Internet Explorer security settings (for Local Intranet)
are:
- Download signed ActiveX controls: Enable
- Run ActiveX controls: Enable
- Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Enable
- Active scripting: Enable
